STIMULUS CHECK UPDATE! NEW WAY TO CALL THE IRS ABOUT YOUR PAYMENT

If you get this message, either we have not yet processed your payment, or you are not eligible for a payment, the IRS says. We will continue to send the 2021 Economic Impact Payment to eligible individuals throughout 2021.

Millions of Americans have already received their coronavirus stimulus checks under President Joe Bidens American Rescue Plan.

But what should you do if youre one of the unfortunate few who are still sitting empty-handed?

If you werent aware already, you can actually speak to a live human regarding your missing or late check. The Internal Revenue Service Economic Impact Payment phone number is 800-919-9835, but you should be aware that IRS live phone assistance is extremely limited at this time, according to the agencys website.

That means that you should be prepared to sit on hold for at least several minutes if youre lucky or even an hour or two. Some individuals have confirmed that they havent been able to get through to a live representative.

If youre still seeking a more concrete date on when the stimulus payment will arrive, there is indeed another way. You can always log on to the IRS Get My Payment tool, which according to the agency, more than thirty-five million people have already used it to get their stimulus payment status.

Also, know that you dont have to waste your days by constantly checking on the site. The IRS says that the tool updates once per day, usually overnight.

Stimulus Check Irs Phone Number: Where To Call

The IRS Economic Impact Payment phone number is 800-919-9835. You can call to speak with a live representative about your stimulus check.

Be prepared to sit on hold, though. If the automated responses can’t answer your questions and you’d like to talk to a live operator, you may join a long waiting list. Some people say they haven’t even been able to get through.

That’s why the IRS recommends using its dedicated stimulus check portal for fast assistance. It also reminds those who are eligible for a stimulus check but aren’t required to file a tax return to use the Non-Filers tool to register for their payment.

Stimulus Check: Check Your Status With The Irs Get My Payment App

If youre not sure whether your stimulus check has been sent out, the easiest way to check is by using the IRSs own online tracker. Alternatively, you can use the IRS stimulus check phone number.

If you meet the eligibility requirements for the third stimulus check, the status of your payment should be visible from the IRSS Get My Payment Portal. That includes people who are not eligible for the full stimulus-check amount. Heres how:

  • Just head over to the IRS Get My Payment website , and click Get My Payment to enter the portal.
  • Fill out your Social Security number or Individual Tax ID along with your date of birth, address, and ZIP code. Then click Continue.

You should then see your stimulus-check-payment status. If it hasnt been sent yet, you have nothing to worry about.

If it says Payment Status Not Available it means that youre either not eligible, or that the IRS hasnt finished processing your tax return yet, assuming you have already filed it.

If you signed up to USPSs informed delivery tool, you can track your stimulus check through the mail and will get a notification when it arrives in your mailbox. You can read more about that here. But if you dont receive your payment, thats when you want to escalate things.

The Golden State Stimulus II payments are different from the Golden State Stimulus I payments.

GSS I payments were a one-time check of either $600 or $1,200.

As mentioned above, it went out to those who typically earned less than $30,000 and received the California Earned Income Tax Credit, or CalEITC, or those who filed their taxes with an Individual Tax Identification Number, or ITIN.

However, GSS II has been expanded so that more Californians qualify.

Why Did I Receive A Debit Card

The IRS issued millions of debit cards to taxpayers in lieu of second stimulus checks, but will be sending out fewer debit cards out for the third payment. The prepaid Visa debit cards, issued by MetaBank, are called Economic Impact Payment cards. Your EIP card will arrive in a white envelope with “Economic Impact Payment Card” in the return address. You’ll need to activate the card by calling the phone number that comes with the card and choosing a 4-digit PIN number.

You can use your EIP card for purchases or use it to withdraw cash . You can also transfer the funds from your EIP card directly into your own bank account, after you register for online access.

If you use the card wisely, it will be free, but there are some fees to be aware of. If you use an out-of-network ATM or a bank teller to withdraw cash, you may need to pay a fee, and if you check the balance of the debit card, at either an in-network ATM or an out-of-network ATM, you will be charged a small fee.

The IRS has announced that the vast majority of taxpayers should receive their third stimulus payment by direct deposit this time.

California Stimulus Checks: Nearly 800000 More Golden State Payments Going Out

California on Friday began issuing its latest round of Golden State Stimulus II checks of up to $1,100, officials said.

This round includes 784,000 payments with a total valuation of $555 million, according to the California Franchise Tax Board.

The vast majority in this batch 750,000 will be sent by mail, with checks scheduled to go out starting Monday.

According to the Tax Boards website, the new payments are scheduled to be mailed to recipients whose ZIP codes have the last three digits of 376 to 584. The money is also still going out qualifying taxpayers who have ZIP codes with the last three digits of 221 to 375.

Mailed checks will go out to the next group of ZIP codes 585 to 719 starting Nov. 29., the website shows.

The state also plans to directly deposit 34,000 payments into bank accounts beginning Friday.

Use The Irs Portal And Get My Payment App

With no live person to call at the IRS, your best bet for getting information now is the IRS website. For basic questions about issues like who is eligible for payments and what steps you need to take to get your check, head to the IRS FAQ page about stimulus checks.

Another part of the online IRS portal has a page detailing how to use the tools it’s created for coronavirus payments, with a special focus on whether you should use the Get My Payment app or the “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” form. A separate page just addresses frequently asked questions about Get My Payment.

Basically, you’ll want to use the “Non-Filers” form if you haven’t filed taxes for 2018 or 2019 perhaps because your income level was so low you weren’t required to file and you’re eligible for a stimulus payment. If you don’t register here, you might not get your money.

The Get My Payment app is intended to let you track the status of your payment, get an estimated date for the payment’s arrival if it’s been scheduled, find out how the payment will be made , and add direct deposit information if it’s not already on file with the IRS and your payment hasn’t been processed yet.

Unfortunately, for the time being, there’s no one you can call at the IRS who can answer questions about any of these issues.

Didn’t Get The Full Third Payment Claim The 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit

UPDATE: IRS launches Get My Payment tool to track your stimulus ...

You may be eligible to claim a 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2021 federal tax return.

Individuals can view the total amount of their third Economic Impact Payments through their individual Online Account. Through March 2022, we’ll also send Letter 6475 to the address we have on file for you confirming the total amount of your third Economic Impact Payment and any plus-up payments you received for tax year 2021.

You will need this information from your online account or your letter to accurately calculate your 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit when you file your 2021 federal tax return in 2022. For married filing joint individuals, each spouse will need to log into their own online account or review their own letter for their half of the total payment. All amounts must be considered if filing jointly.

Using the total amount of the third payment from your online account or Letter 6475 when preparing a tax return can reduce errors and avoid delays in processing while the IRS corrects the tax return.

What Can The Irs Do For A Missing Stimulus Check

The IRS will do the following to process your claim, according to its website:

  • If you didn’t cash the check, the IRS will issue a replacement. If you discover the original check among your belongings, you’re expected to return it as soon as possible.
  • If you did cash or deposit the check, expect a claim package from the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, which will include a copy of the cashed check. Follow the included instructions. The bureau will review your claim and the signature on the canceled check before deciding whether it will issue a replacement. This is presumably to guard against stimulus check fraud.
