Unlike previous rounds of stimulus checks, these funds will not be directly deposited by the federal government into Americans bank accounts.

Instead, the funds will be granted to states and non-profit assistance programs that apply for participation and demonstrate the ability to distribute the money effectively.

The USDA has yet to provide details on eligibility requirements or methods of distribution.

When announcing the program, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack acknowledged the immense pressure faced by industry workers during the pandemic.

Community Leaders And Employers Should Help Get Word Out About Stimulus Checks

Commissioner Chuck Rettig said that, “IRS employees worked around the clock to deliver the Economic Impact Payments and new tools to help taxpayers in record time.” He went on to say that, “Even with these unprecedented steps, there remain people eligible for these payments who need to take action. Registering to receive the payments is easy, and millions of non-filers have already taken this step. We urge everyone to share this information widely to help more people receive these payments.”

Given these concerns, the IRS announced that it will conduct an extensive outreach and education effort over the next few months to get the word out to low-income, no-income, homeless and other individuals who should use the Non-Filers tool to get a stimulus check. Community leaders and employers in underserved or disadvantaged areas canand shouldstep up and help in this effort.

To achieve its goal to reach out to underserved communities and limited English households, the IRS created an Economic Impact Payment partner page with resources and reference materials to help leaders, employers and others better support this effort to get stimulus checks to more low-income, no-income, homeless or otherwise disadvantaged individuals and families.

If either of your checks are missing, however, you’ll have to take the extra steps below.

Who’s Eligible For The Payment

Those eligible for the money could include people whose tax situation changed in 2021, but the change was not reflected in their latest tax return.

For example, parents who welcomed a child in 2021 may be eligible for the $1,400 payments as long as they meet income requirements.

Eligibility for the third round of stimulus checks, issued earlier this year as part of President Joe Biden‘s American Rescue Plan, was based on a family’s last tax return filed.

Since babies born in 2021 were not factored in, the $1,400 checks will be applied to their parent or guardian’s 2021 tax return.

Others may be eligible for more money as well due to a change in income or the addition of a dependent.

Payments begin to phase out for people who make more than those income limits.

They completely phase out for individuals who make more than $80,000 and couples who make more than $160,000.

The number of families still owed a $1,400 stimulus check is not yet known but it is estimated to be in the millions.

The figure wont be known until the total number of births for 2021 is revealed.

Q How Much Was The Second Stimulus Check For

A. Your second stimulus check depended on your 2019 income. The full amount was $600 per individual, $1,200 per couple, and $600 per qualifying child under the age of 17. For expats to qualify for the full second stimulus check, you must have had $75,000 or less in income if you filed as single, $112,500 or less if you filed as head of household, or $150,000 or less if you filed jointly with your spouse or as a qualifying widow. Youd also then qualify for a $600 payment per qualifying child.

For those above this income level, your stimulus check amount would lower $5 for each $100 your AGI exceeded the above thresholds.

Q. Did I have to pay back the amount I get?

A. No.

Q. Will this affect my 2020 tax return?

A. It could only help your 2020 return. If youre eligible for less or received the full amount, you dont have to pay it back and it wont affect your return.

Q. Will I owe tax on this second stimulus check in 2021 or have to pay it back?

A. No, this is considered a tax credit, not income, so you will not need to pay taxes on it in 2021 or pay it back.

Child And Dependent Care Credit

Perhaps the biggest difference between this benefit and the other stimulus checks that Americans are used to? You actually have to ask for this one. It wont come automatically, in other words. Which is the way the child tax credit checks will .

Heres what the IRS says about the child and dependent care credit. The child and dependent care tax credit is a credit allowed for a percentage of work-related expenses that a taxpayer incurs for the care of qualifying persons to enable the taxpayer to work or look for work. This benefit was another that resulted from the $1.9 trillion stimulus law earlier this year, the same one that provided the new round of stimulus checks for $1,400.

Families with an adjusted gross income of no more than $125,000 can get the full tax credit. It will cover 50% of their qualifying expenses. However, that number drops to 20% for incomes between $125,001 and $183,001.

The $600 stimulus check is being sent to cover expenses and COVID costs are part of the Farm and Food Workers program announced by the US Department of Agriculture earlier this month.

The department set aside a whopping $700million in grant funding for the program.

Of that, $680million is earmarked for farm and meatpacking workers and the remaining $20million for grocery store workers.

When applying through the application, you have the option to request funding amounts based on the number of workers an organization expects to deliver relief payments to.
