Who Is Eligible For A Coronavirus Economic Impact Payment
U.S. residents who have a work-eligible Social Security number and are not a dependent of another taxpayer will receive COVID-19 financial relief payments as long as they meet certain income limits. To qualify, adjusted gross income from tax year 2019 must be less than $75,000 for individuals, less than $112,500 for heads of household and less than $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns. Those with income under these limits are eligible to receive the full payment amount$1,200 for individuals and heads of household and $2,400 for married couples filing jointly.
Taxpayers whose adjusted gross income falls in the following ranges will receive reduced aid payments.
- $75,000$99,000 for individuals and those married filing separately
- $112,500$136,500 for heads of household
- $150,000$198,000 for those married filing jointly
The amount of the reduced payment is based upon a persons specific adjusted gross income.
Additionally, eligible individuals are entitled to an extra $500 for each qualifying dependent child under age 17 they claim.

Californias SSI recipients live in poverty by definition. Elderly, blind and disabled people can only qualify if they have extremely low income and wealth, and they typically receive just $954.72 per month.
On the other hand, people with sufficient work history can qualify for monthly SSDI payments based on their former wages, with the average national benefit at $1,280 per month.

Other Help For Social Security Claimants
The Social Security Administration looks at the cost of living and makes any necessary increases to Social Security benefits.

How Do I Know If I Got My Payment
It might have been easy to miss your stimulus payment. However, there are a few ways you can double-check.
First, review your bank statements. If you’re like most people, the IRS sent your stimulus check to the same bank account you get your Social Security benefits through. So, an easy place to start is to look through your 2021 statements for your payment.
The IRS Get My Payment site also has helpful information. Currently, the IRS is sending letters to people who received the third stimulus payment in 2021. These letters, which will be sent through March 2022, confirm the total amount of the stimulus payment you got, plus any additional economic impact payments you may have received.
You can also view your information online by creating an account with the IRS. If you already have an account, go to the Tax Records header, and you’ll see your total stimulus payments for both 2020 and 2021.
Another Stimulus Check Senior Citizens Group Fundraises To Lobby For $1400 Payments
The Senior Citizens League is fundraising to support its efforts to lobby Congress to support additional stimulus checks of $1,400 targeted to Social Security recipients amid the ongoing pandemic.
The federal government previously sent out $1,200 direct payments to most Americans back in March 2020, as lockdowns to curb the spread of the coronavirus were implemented across the country. Then, in December 2020, Congress approved an additional stimulus check of up to $600 for most Americans. After President Joe Biden took office, Democrats pushed through a stimulus check of $1,400 for most Americans.
However, as inflation has surged and the fallout from the pandemic persists, the Senior Citizens League is urging members of Congress to approve another stimulus check targeted to elderly Americans.
“We’re midway through December. A busy time of year and an expensive time. If you’re anything like me, you keep an eye on your budget. Do you know what could really help with that budget? A one-time emergency stimulus check for Social Security recipients,” said a holiday fundraising email sent out on Thursday by the organization’s chairman, Rick Delaney.
“Donate today to help us secure this $1,400 payment to you,” he wrote.
Newsweek reached out to the organization’s media representative for further comment but did not hear back before publication.

Yes, effective October 29, 2021, if you request reconsideration of a change in payment for non-medical reasons within 60 days of receiving a letter about the change in payment, you will continue to receive payment at the previous payment level until a new determination is made, unless you ask not to receive continued payment. Therefore, if you file a reconsideration request within 10 days of receipt of a letter, there will be no change in your payment. If you file a reconsideration request more than 10 days after receipt of a letter, your payment may change temporarily, but we will restart the previous payment amount once we receive and enter your reconsideration request, and you will receive that amount until we decide your reconsideration request.
