Here Are Some Questions And Answers Around This New Stimulus Payment:
If I didnt file taxes in 2019/2020 will I receive the stimulus ? Unlike the first stimulus payment where those who didnt need to file a tax return could update the IRS non-filer tool, this time around due to the speed of roll-out of the second stimulus check and with tax season around the corner the IRS has said the non-filer tool is closed for updates. The IRS will be using information they have as of Nov 21, 2020 or from your first stimulus check payment . Otherwise they are encouraging you to the stimulus by filing a 2020 1040 or 1040-SR tax return. Free tax software programs can be used by people who are not normally required to file tax returns but are eligible to claim the credit.
How will I get paid? Like the first stimulus payment in 2020, the IRS will facilitate payment of these checks based on your 2019 tax information. You will also get the dependent stimulus payment for eligible dependents claimed on your tax return. For other groups who dont file taxes the IRS will work with other government departments or the Get My Payment tool. Direct deposit will still be the fastest way to get your payment.
Dependents in 2020? Households who added dependents in 2020 might not qualify for full payments immediately, since based on 2019 tax return information. But they can request additional money as part of the 2020 tax returns they will file in early 2021. See more in this articles for dependent qualification income thresholds.
The Online Petition For A Fourth Stimulus Check
A Denver restaurant owner has created an online petition on Change.org, asking the US congress to provide people with monthly stimulus checks. The petition has collected as many as three million signatures for the time being.
Our country is still deeply struggling, reads the description.
The recovery hasnt reached many Americans the true unemployment rate for low-wage workers is estimated at over 20 percent and many people face large debts from last year for things like utilities, rent and child care.
Im calling on Congress to support families with a $2,000 payment for adults and a $1,000 payment for kids immediately, and continuing regular checks for the duration of the crisis.
Otherwise, laid-off workers, furloughed workers, the self-employed, and workers dealing with reduced hours will struggle to pay their rent or put food on the table.

Stimulus Payments Headed To Adult Dependents With Disabilities
For the first time since the start of the pandemic, stimulus checks are going out to many people with disabilities regardless of whether theyre considered dependents.
The COVID-19 relief bill known as at the American Rescue Plan that was signed into law earlier this month includes $1,400 direct payments to individuals earning less than $75,000 per year, with phased amounts for those making up to $80,000 annually.
Previous stimulus payments over the last year have specifically excluded people who are counted as someone elses dependent for tax purposes. But, this time around adult dependents will be able to collect the relief funds.
Its a huge deal, said Bethany Lilly, senior director of income policy at The Arc who has pushed for adult dependents to be included. I know that many families have gone through tough economic circumstances this year in addition to all the increased costs of the pandemic and staying safe, so Im very relieved that they will be getting help.
Lilly cited a study from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities suggesting that there are 400,000 adult children with disabilities who are claimed as dependents by their parents who will qualify for the payments. On top of that, she noted there are countless others with disabilities who are claimed as dependents by siblings, grandparents, cousins or others.
Stimulus payments for individuals who are considered dependents will be paid to the taxpayer who claims them.

Who Is Getting The 1400 Stimulus Checks
There are many unknowns, including the number and location of people who will receive the 1400 checks. There is also no way to know how much of the money will be spent on frivolous items. While the federal government is handing out $20 billion in stimulus checks to struggling Americans, many people are wondering if they will get their check.
These checks are given out only to those who qualify and so far no one has been able to decide who qualifies and who doesn’t. One of the new provisions in the stimulus package is a transfer of 14 million people from Social Security Disability Insurance to unemployment insurance.
The reason for this is that unemployment has been so high in recent years that the FED decided that there was no need to keep 15 million people on disability. It is a question that many have been asking themselves since the start of the stimulus checks.
The payments are distributed throughout the country and have made it very difficult to track down who has received them. The president’s office says they will be releasing the recipients in June. The announcement has been controversial, with people wondering which Americans will receive the $800 checks.
Some believe that these funds should be used to get consumers out of debt, while others say that tax cuts will help the economy grow more quickly and boost consumer spending. The money is going to . 4 million Americans.
This Is The Second Month With Two
This will be the second time this year we’ve had a two-payment month, as last April beneficiaries saw the same move.
Since the maximum monthly payment per indiviual is at $841 dollars, this month SSI recipients could see a total payment of up to $1,682 arrive during September.
The payment schedule for Social Security will not be impacted as SSI’s has.

Am I Eligible For A Stimulus Check If I Have Other Income
If you have income in addition to your disability benefits that make your combined income over $75,000, you aren’t eligible for the full stimulus payment. Similarly, if you’re married and file a joint return, and your income combined with your spouse’s income is over $150,000, you are eligible for only a reduced payment. In those situations, your stimulus payment, including any payment for dependents, is reduced by a percentage of the amount over those thresholds.
What income does the IRS look at to determine if your payment should be reduced? For the third stimulus check, the IRS used your “adjusted gross income” from your 2020 tax return to determine if you’re eligible. If you didn’t file a tax return, the IRS used your income from your Social Security or SSI checks.
How Can You Increase Your Social Security Disability Benefits
The Social Security Administration allows a person to earn up to $40,000 in “work credits” over the course of a year by working. If you have worked long enough and accumulate at least 40 work credits, you may be able to apply for disability benefits with Disability Insurance.
Disability insurance is available to those who are unable to work because of their injury or illness. It provides people with a monthly payment that can help cover expenses like food, rent, utilities, and medical bills. The amount of the monthly payment depends on your age and how much time you’ve been receiving benefits.
If you’re still working at age 62, you’ll be required to provide your own income in order to continue receiving benefits. If you are struggling to make ends meet every month, even with your high-paying job and a disability insurance policy, it’s time to consider increasing your Social Security benefits.
If you’re not familiar with this process, the first step would be to find out if you qualify for any programs that can help increase your benefits. The Social Security Administration provides Disability Insurance that pays benefits if you are unable to work because of a medical condition.
The amount of benefits is based on your income and the number of dependents you have. If you find yourself struggling to make ends meet, consider using an online tool like mySocialSecurity for help calculating your potential benefits.

Crystal Vazquez, 64, who lives in a trailer near Salinas and isnt eligible for the stimulus
Scouring state websites, she concluded that disability income didnt qualify her for the stimulus. In March, Vazquez tried filing a tax return for $240 she had earned in 2020. But she says she never received the $600, which she still doesnt understand. She repeatedly called the state tax agency, but never got through to a person.
A lifelong Democrat who said she voted for Newsom three years ago, Vazquez said that this experience has jaded her and shes not sure how to vote in the recall. For the 3rd stimulus checks, most beneficiaries who previously received payments through prepaid debit cards, instead of their Direct Express card account, received their stimulus payment as a paper check. Only current Direct Express cardholders received the payment through the said cards, which is why it is important to always be up to date with announcements and to follow specific instructions.
