The amount of money held by households in the United States is $4.7 trillion, more than three times what it was before the pandemic.

European Commission Takes Germany To Court Over Stimulus Ruling

In May the Germanys top court ruled that the European Central Bank had overstepped its mandate with its bond purchases as part of its flagship Euro Zone 2 trillion stimulus program. The German constitutional court gave the ECB three months to justify bond purchases.

The decision by the European Commission does not necessarily mean a case ends up in court nor would it overturn the German courts ruling. However, it is a sign that the Commission is showing that EU law holds precedence over national regulations. The Court of Justice of the European Union could decide that Germany needs to make amends for its high courts decision.

4th Stimulus Check Update 2022

A Denver restaurant owner has created an online petition on Change.org, asking the US congress to provide people with monthly stimulus checks. The petition has collected as many as three million signatures for the time being.

“Our country is still deeply struggling,” reads the description.

“The recovery hasn’t reached many Americans – the true unemployment rate for low-wage workers is estimated at over 20 percent and many people face large debts from last year for things like utilities, rent and child care.

“I’m calling on Congress to support families with a $2,000 payment for adults and a $1,000 payment for kids immediately, and continuing regular checks for the duration of the crisis.

“Otherwise, laid-off workers, furloughed workers, the self-employed, and workers dealing with reduced hours will struggle to pay their rent or put food on the table.”

What Is The New Child Tax Credit Amount

Heres how the numbers break down: The American Rescue Plan bumps the Child Tax Credit up to $3,000 for children ages 617 and $3,600 for children under age 6.3 Expecting a baby in 2021? First of all, congrats! And heres some more good news for youbabies born in 2021 will qualify for the full $3,600. Have a college student? Parents can receive a one-time payment of $500 for each full-time college kid ages 1824.4

So, for a family that has three children , heres how it all breaks down:

Lets say they have three kids that are ages 12, 7 and 4 and a household income of $72,000 a year. Their new Child Tax Credit would be $9,600.

But remember, instead of applying the full amount of the credit to income taxes they might owe or getting a refund after they file their taxes, parents can get the credit up front in monthly payments of $250 for each qualifying child .5 So that family of three in our example would get $800 a month from July through December. Wow!

Right now, this change would be only for 2021but theres talk in Congress and the White House to make it a permanent thing for the next five years under Bidens American Families Plan. Yep, there are a lot of plans and acts to keep straight these days.

The measure would use $2.5 million in stimulus money allocated to the city by the American Rescue Plan.

The city had considered implementing a hazard pay mandate to make companies flip the bill of topping up their workers’ paychecks but those ordinances received pushback, with some stores closing, and lawsuits in other cities that attempted such measures. This way the city avoids a confrontation with businesses in its community and it will be faster and easier to institute.

To truly build back better, families need stability and certainty through ongoing relief they cannot be at the mercy of congressional gridlock.
