Can I Claim My Plus
Want to get a jump start on claiming your plus-up payment? Unfortunately, you can’t. That said, you don’t have to worry about doing anything extra to qualify on your end — other than file your 2020 tax return, that is.
The IRS will be the one determining whether or not you receive a plus-up payment by using your 2020 tax information. So, once you have filed your 2020 taxes — and once the IRS deems you eligible — your plus-up payment will be initiated by the IRS.
Another Important Stimulus Check Update Youll Want To Be Aware Of
This was an inevitable stimulus check update that was going to come at some point, and now it seems the moment has arrived: The IRS has reportedly sent out the final batch of $1,400 payments stemming from the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief legislation that President Biden signed into law a little more than a month ago now.
Recipients of Veterans Affairs benefits should get their $1,400 stimulus check today, which marks the final disbursement of stimulus payments. According to the IRS, recipients of this round of checks includes veterans and their beneficiaries who receive Compensation and Pension benefit payments who dont normally file a tax return, with most of these checks being distributed as an electronic direct deposit following the initiation of the process late last week.
Were still waiting to hear from the IRS when a disbursement of paper checks will begin as part of this final round of stimulus checks. The way to check on the status of the payment, though, is the same as its always been by using the Get My Payment portal available via the IRS website.
The IRS said back on March 30 that most recipients of federal benefits would receive their third stimulus payment the same way that their regular benefit payments come to them. A spokesperson for the National Automated Clearing House Association, or Nacha, told Newsweek that the funds should be available and waiting in the bank accounts of these latest recipients by 9 a.m. local time today .
Free Tax Preparation Services
Each year, millions of people have their taxes prepared for free by IRS-certified volunteers. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs have helped people for more than 40 years. Over 1.3million free tax returns were prepared for Veterans since the inception of the MOU at nearly 8,000 free tax preparation sites across the country. Here are some details about VITA and TCE:

How Many Stimulus Payments Have Been Disbursed
The IRS also has provided updated data on the number of Economic Impact Payments made so far:
- Over 156 million total payments have been made so far
- Over 19 million payments have been made to Social Security beneficiaries who didnt file a 2020 or 2019 tax return and didnt use the Non-Filers tool last year
- More than 3 million payments, with a total value of nearly $5 billion, went to Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries
- Nearly 85,000 payments totaling over $119 million went to Railroad Retirement Board beneficiaries
- More than 1 million payments totaling around $3 billion went to people for whom the IRS previously did not have information to issue a payment but who recently filed a tax return and qualified for an Economic Impact Payment
When Will Stimulus Checks Arrive

Many federal beneficiaries who filed 2019 or 2020 returns or used the Non-Filers tool last year have been issued Economic Impact Payments. The majority of Social Security recipients and other federal beneficiaries who do not normally file a tax return are expected to be sent payments electronically by April 7. This applies to Social Security, Supplemental Security Income , and Railroad Retirement Board beneficiaries who did not file a 2019 or 2020 tax return or did not use the Non-Filers tool.
Americans started seeing the money in their bank accounts as early as March 17. The IRS took about one week to send the second round of checks, worth $600, in January. Paper checks and prepaid Visa debit cards which are expected to be part of the third stimulus program would be sent in the regular mail and take a bit longer.
The fifth batch of payments began processing on Friday, April 9, with an official payment date of April 14. The fifth batch included:

Texas Veterans To Start Receiving $1400 Stimulus Payments This Week
Ninfa Saavedra, Digital Content Specialist
HOUSTON Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee announced Tuesday that Texans who receive veterans benefits could expect Economic Impact Payments of up to $1,400 to hit their bank accounts this week.
Help is here, and we want to make sure that state veterans get the money that is rightfully theirs, said Lee.
The latest round of payments applies specifically to veterans and their beneficiaries who receive compensation and pension benefit payments, and who dont normally file a tax return.
Most payments will be automatically deposited into bank accounts or loaded onto the Direct Express cards where veterans receive their benefits. Those waiting on paper checks or debit cards through the mail should expect to receive their payments over the next several days.
In most cases, these payments are automatic, and no action is necessary to receive them.
Lee encourages all Texans to use the Get My Payment tool from IRS.gov to check the status of their payments and make sure they receive the money.

The Internal Revenue Service , the Department of the Treasury, and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service recently disbursed more than 25 million payments in the fourth batch of Economic Impact Payments from the American Rescue Plan. Many of the payments went directly to Veterans and their beneficiaries.
How are payments determined?
The Veterans Benefits Administration and the IRS worked together quickly to ensure that Veterans and their beneficiaries would receive their stimulus checks without additional paperwork or IRS filings.
The IRS received data from VBA, which covers Veterans and their beneficiaries who receive Compensation and Pension benefit payments and who dont normally file a tax return.
People who do not normally file a tax return and do not receive federal benefits may qualify for these Economic Impact Payments. This includes those experiencing homelessness, low income Veterans and others. Individuals who did not get a first or second round Economic Impact Payment or got less than the full amounts may be eligible for the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit, but theyll need to file a 2020 tax return. See the special section on IRS.gov: Claiming the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit if you arent required to file a tax return.
When can I expect my payment?
No action is needed by most people to obtain this round of Economic Impact Payments. Additional information on Economic Impact Payments is available on IRS.gov.

Who Is A Qualified Dependent
With the third check, any dependent you claim is eligible to count toward $1,400 going to the family total. Dependents do not receive their own stimulus checks. With the first two rounds of payments, those who received federal benefits had to take an extra step to receive money for dependents, and you may also need to file a 2020 tax form to claim your dependents for the third stimulus check. That includes babies born in 2020.

The Massachusetts State Legislature is working to pass a one-off tax rebate of $250 for eligible individual filers and $500 for eligible married couples who file jointly. If the bill clears both houses and is signed by Gov. Charlie Baker, payments could be sent out before the end of September.
Baker told reporters on July 8 that he “will certainly sign” the bill, but he hopes it’s just the start of more tax relief efforts, “given that the cost of everything has gone up.”
Massachusetts is just the latest state to address rampant inflation and the growing threat of recession with a plan to send a tax rebate check to eligible residents. The federal government issued three rounds of stimulus checks during the height of the pandemic. It’s unlikely to send more this year, but at least 17 states have issued or are in the process of sending out rebate payments.

What Are The Eligibility Rules For The $1400 Stimulus Checks
The third round of stimulus checks saw the full $1,400 per person going to individuals who have an adjusted gross income less than $75,000, married couples filing jointly making under $150,000. In the third round of stimulus checks all adult dependents that a tax filer claims are eligible for a $1,400 check too.
The VA worked with the IRS to make sure that beneficiaries automatically received the stimulus money that they were due. However, if recipient of VA benefits had a new baby or took on a new adult dependent in 2020 or 2021, they will need to file a tax return in order to receive the $1,400 stimulus check that corresponds to that person.

The Internal Revenue Service has confirmed that recipients of VA benefits will automatically receive Economic Impact Payments . That means that veterans and their beneficiaries who receive Compensation and Pension benefit payments from VA will receive a $1,200 Economic Impact Payment with no further action needed on their part. The move required coordination among the Department of Veterans Affairs , Department of the Treasury, IRS, and the Bureau of Fiscal Services .
Previously, the IRS confirmed that those receiving Social Security retirement or disability benefits , Supplemental Security Income , and Railroad Retirement benefits can receive automatic payments of $1,200
“Since many VA recipients typically aren’t required to file tax returns, the IRS had to work with these other government agencies to determine a way to quickly and accurately deliver Economic Impact Payments to this group,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.
“Additional programming work remains, but this step simplifies the process for VA recipients to quickly and easily receive these $1,200 payments automatically. We deeply appreciate the sacrifices and service to our country by each and every veteran and their families, as well as the assistance of VA and the Bureau of Fiscal Services in this effort.”

Lawyer Who Paid Hunter Bidens Taxes Is Making A Doc About Him: Report
The feds just doled out another 2 million stimulus checks and a large chunk of them went to veterans.
The Internal Revenue Services fifth batch of coronavirus relief payments under the American Rescue Plan included more than 320,000 checks for people relying Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, officials said.
Those taxpayers are receiving compensation benefits or VA pensions available to veterans as well as their spouses or other relatives in some cases, according to the feds.
Like many Social Security recipients who had to wait for their stimulus checks, these VA beneficiaries do not usually file tax returns and didnt submit their payment info to the IRS when previous payments were distributed last year, the tax agency said Wednesday.
The IRS had to review payment data it received from the VA to deliver money to the affected veterans, officials have said.
The VA beneficiaries checks were among more than $3.4 billion worth of economic impact payments that the IRS said it started processing last Friday and officially paid on Wednesday.
What If I Don’t Receive Payment

VA benefit recipients who don’t receive their stimulus payment on Wednesday may be sent a paper check instead.
“The third round of Economic Impact Payments will be delivered to the account where your federal benefits are issued,” the IRS said on March 30.
For those who filed a 2020 or 2019 tax return, payments will be sent as a direct deposit to the bank account provided on their tax return or be mailed to the address the IRS has on file if their tax refund was mailed or there was no refund on their tax return, the federal body noted.

Past Proposed Stimulus Measures
- CASH Act: The House of Representatives passed the CASH Act however efforts for a $2,000 second stimulus check are effectively dead. The Senate passed on the House-passed CASH Act which would have increased the second-round stimulus checks approved by the COVID-Related Tax Relief Act from $600 to $2,000. A new Congress will be sworn in on on Sun. Jan. 3 and could revive the legislation.
- HEROES Act: On May 12 House Democrats unveiled a 3 trillion stimulus package and it passed the House on May 15. Negotiations with the House and Senate are next. Even if the HEROES Act is not passed, both parties will sit down to work out another bill that can garner cross-party support. Details of the stimulus package include:
- $1 trillion would go to state, local and tribal governments.
- $1,200 stimulus payments also would go out to most Americans under the plan, with a maximum of $6,000 per household.

Two Kinds Of Stimulus
There are two different types of stimulus: Fiscal stimulus is described as acts the government takes to prod the economy:
- Additional government consumption
- Increased government transfers
- Reduced taxes
These measures are designed to reduce public debt. The other type, known as monetary stimulus refers to:
- Reduced interest rates
- Quantitative easing
- Alternative means of making credit available
These measures can be used to stave off or mitigate a recession an excellent example of how monetary stimulus was used in this way was the federal governments quantitative easing strategy to deal with the mortgage crisis of 2008.

When And How Will Veterans Begin To Receive Their Third Stimulus Checks
Any veteran who received VA benefits in 2020 is eligible for a third stimulus check. The IRS has said that veterans should not have to provide any additional information to receive their third check, unless there has been a change in the number of dependents they are able to claim. Veterans who do not usually file income taxes may need to if the number of dependents changed in 2020, as this information may impact the amount of money they are entitled to.
On 7 April, the IRS announced that it expected to begin processing these VA payment files at the end of this week, following up by saying that since the majority of these payments will be disbursed electronically, veterans should begin to receive their payments on 14 April. Veterans who receive disability or a pension will automatically receive a third stimulus check.
Veterans may receive their checks through a variety of methods including direct deposit or through Direct Express cards, if that is how they normally receive their VA benefits. Veterans who have set up direct deposit with the IRS may have already received their third check.
If you receive VA benefit payments through a pre-paid debit card or paper check, there is a simpler, quicker and more secure way to receive the benefits you have earned: Direct deposit allows your money to automatically arrive in your bank account.

Irs Has Distributed Another $36 Billion In Economic Impact Payments Heres Why Some People Will Be Receiving What The Agency Calls A Plus
This story has been updated with new information made available by the IRS and Treasury Department.
The IRS has disbursed another $36 billion in stimulus payments, bringing the total in the latest round of covid-related direct relief to about $372 billion.
The distribution includes 25 million payments, with much of the money going to Social Security beneficiaries, according to an announcement from the IRS and Treasury. More than 19 million payments totaling $26 billion were issued to Social Security retirement, survivor, or disability benefit recipients. Another 3 million payments totaling $5 billion went to Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries. Nearly 85,000 payments worth $119 million went to Railroad Retirement Board beneficiaries.
So far, the IRS has disbursed more than 156 million stimulus payments.
The American Rescue Plan provides for payments of up to $1,400 for eligible individuals and $2,800 for couples filing joint returns. Dependents, regardless of age, receive $1,400 each.
Recent distributions also include supplemental or plus-up payments for people who have received partial stimulus payments based on their 2019 return. Under the American Rescue Plan, the IRS could use a taxpayers 2019 or 2020 return to issue what it calls an economic impact payment, also referred to as a stimulus payment. If someones income dropped last year compared to 2019, that might entitle them to a plus-up payment.
