As of July 2022, the federal government doesn’t appear to have any plans to send a fourth stimulus check to all U.S. residents. The Biden administration has not made an appeal to Congress about a fourth stimulus payment, but legislative gridlock as the 2022 midterms approach all but assures any such proposal would be dead on arrival.
States Are Sending Out Tax Rebate Checks To Residents Is Yours On The List
14 states approve stimulus checks as inflation continues to rise As an answer to soaring inflation and high gas prices 14 states are offering stimulus payments.
Americans looking for help in the form of a federal stimulus check to fight high gas and food prices are likely to be disappointed as there is little support in Congress for another check anytime soon.
However, for some, state governments are offering special tax rebates.
Fifteen states have passed legislation that will send money to citizens. Here is a look at which states are sending out tax rebates and how much they will be sending.
1. California
Couples making up to $75,000 a year will get $700 from the state beginning in October due to a surplus of funds in the state budget. Individual taxpayers who make up to $75,000 a year will get $350. Eligible households will also receive $350 if they have qualifying dependents.
Those who make $75,000 to $150,000 a year will get a phased benefit with a maximum payment of $200 per individual .
The payments will be delivered via direct deposit and debit cards, according to the California Department of Tax and Fee Information.
2. Colorado
Taxpayers in Colorado can expect around $500 sometime in September if they filed a tax return by June 30, according to Newsweek. The exact amount will depend on the status of state revenue, the state department of revenue said.

Are 4th Stimulus Checks Really Happening
They arebut theyre not coming from the federal government like the last three stimulus checks did. This time, it all depends on what state you live in. Thats right, these fourth stimulus checks are being given out to some folks at the state and city levels now.
Back when the American Rescue Plan rolled out, all 50 states as a whole were given $195 billion to help fund their own economic recovery closer to home.1 Thats a lot of dough. But heres the catchthey dont have forever to spend that money. The states have to figure out what to spend the money on by the end of 2024, and then they have until the end of 2026 to use up all that cash.2 Those deadlines might sound super far away, but the clock is ticking here.

Will There Be Another Stimulus Check From The Federal Government
Most people agree that getting another big stimulus check from the federal government is a long shot at this point. Still, some lawmakers keep pushing for another stimulus check to help Americans who are struggling to rebuild thanks to COVID-19 and its economic impact. And with the Delta and Omicron variants out therewould another stimulus check happen for everyone? You never know. Only time will tell, really. A lot of people didnt think wed see a third stimulus check eitherbut it happened.
With the economy and jobs both on the upswing, the need for a stimulus check is way less than its been since the start of the pandemic. Not to mention, a lot of people have been getting extra cash each month from the Child Tax Credit. Add all of that up and its easy to see that there might not be another stimulus check. But if there is one, dont worrywell let you know.
New Jersey: $500 Rebate Checks
In fall 2021, the New Jersey state legislature approved a budget measure to send one-time rebate checks of up to $500 to nearly a million families.
New Jersey also sent payments to those who file taxes using a taxpayer identification number instead of a Social Security number. The Excluded New Jerseyans Fund applied to nonresident and resident aliens, their spouses and dependents.
The fund has stopped accepting new applications.

Rhode Island Stimulus Checks
Rhode Island families who qualify for a child tax rebate this year will receive $250 for each child who was 18 years old or younger at the end of 2021 up to a maximum of $750 . The state started sending payments on a rolling basis in October to residents who filed their 2021 Rhode Island tax return August 31, 2022. However, for people who file an extended tax return by October 17, 2022, checks will hit mailboxes in December.
If you’re married and filed a joint Rhode Island return for the 2021 tax year, you qualify for a rebate if your federal adjusted gross income can’t exceed $200,000. For everyone else, your federal AGI must be $100,000 or less.

Free File To Stay Open Until November 17
To help people claim these benefits, without charge, Free File will remain open for an extra month this year, until November 17, 2022. Available only at IRS.gov/freefile, Free File enables people whose incomes are $73,000 or less to file a return online for free using brand-name software. Free File is sponsored by the Free File Alliance, a partnership between the IRS and the tax-software industry.
People can also visit ChildTaxCredit.gov to file a 2021 income tax return. Individuals whose incomes are below $12,500 and couples whose incomes are below $25,000 may be able to file a simple tax return to claim the 2021 Recovery Rebate Creditwhich covers any stimulus payment amounts from 2021 they may have missedand the Child Tax Credit. Individuals do not need to have children in order to use Get Your Child Tax Credit to find the right filing solution for them.

How Can I Get My Stimulus Payment Faster
The quickest way to get your payment is through direct deposit. Beware of scams! The IRS will not contact you by phone, email, text message, or social media to request personal information especially banking details or ask you to provide a processing fee. They will send written correspondence with instructions on steps to take and the timeframe for action. Remember, you do not need to pay to get this money.
Additionally, the IRS refers to this money as an Economic Impact Payment. Communications that use stimulus check or recovery rebate are unlikely to be from the IRS. Hang up on phone calls you receive and delete email or text messages that seem too good to be true. You can report scams to the Better Business Bureau to helps protect others.
States Sending Stimulus Checks In December 2022
Almost half of the states have sent “stimulus checks” in 2022. While these state payments generally aren’t as big as the stimulus checks paid by the federal government last year, they can still be an important source of additional support for families dealing with higher inflation and other economic hardships.
As the year winds down, most state stimulus payments have already been paid to eligible residents. But there are a few states where payments will continue in December. This is particularly helpful for qualified recipients who have extra expenses at the end of the year or during the holidays. More Stimulus Checks Hitting More Central Ohio Bank Accounts
COLUMBUS, OHWith more than 150 million Americans having already received their stimulus payment, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty announced that, beginning this week, the Internal Revenue Service is sending Economic Impact Payments of up to $1,400 from the American Rescue Plan, P.L. 117-2, to tens of millions of Social Security recipients and other eligible individuals who have not yet received theirs.
“Help is here, and I want to make sure all Central Ohio seniors get the money that they so desperately need and deserve,” Beatty said. “I was proud to help pass the American Rescue Plan and am doing everything in my power to keep my constituents informed on all the support and resources available to them through this landmark, life-changing piece of legislation.”
Of note, this latest round of electronic payments applies specifically to those who receive Social Security, survivor or disability , Supplemental Security Income , and Railroad Retirement Board benefits and who did not file a 2019 or 2020 tax return or did not use the Non-Filers tool. Most payments will be automatically deposited into banks accounts or loaded onto an individual’s Direct Express Card they use to receive Social Security benefits. Those waiting on paper checks or debit cards through the mail should expect to receive their payments in the coming days.
Delaware: $300 Rebate Payments
Delaware sent relief rebate payments of $300 to taxpayers who filed their 2020 state tax returns. The one-time payment was possible due to a budget surplus. Couples filing jointly received $300 each.
Payments were distributed to most eligible Delaware residents in May 2022.
If youre eligible but didnt receive a rebate yet, you can apply online starting November 1. The application period will only last 30 days and will close on November 30, 2022.
Applicants must provide their Social Security number, active Delaware drivers license that was issued before December 31, 2021 and a valid Delaware residential mailing address. Payments will be sent out to qualifying applicants after the application period closes and all applications are reviewed.

I Already Filed My Tax Return And Still Havent Gotten My Payment What Can I Do
If you filed a 2019 tax return and it wasnt processed in time to issue your first stimulus check by December 31, 2020, you can claim your first stimulus check as the Recovery Rebate Tax Credit on your 2020 tax return or use GetCTC.org if you dont have a filing requirement.
If you filed your 2020 tax return, the IRS may still be processing your return. The fastest way to receive the payment is through direct deposit. Your first stimulus check, which you claim as the Recovery Rebate Credit, will be sent as part of your tax refund. You can check the status of your tax refund using the IRS tool Wheres My Refund.
Because of COVID-19, it is taking more than 21 days for the IRS to issue refunds for certain mailed and e-filed 2020 tax returns that require review.
What Can I Do If The Amount Of My Stimulus Payment Is Wrong
If you didnt get the additional $500 for your children or didnt get the full payment amount that you expected based on your eligibility, you can get the additional amount by filing a 2020 tax return or use GetCTC.org if you dont have a filing requirement.
If you receive Social Security, Social Security Disability Insurance , or Supplemental Security Insurance OR are a railroad retiree or Veterans Affairs beneficiary, and didnt get the first stimulus check or the full amount you are eligible for, you will also have to file a 2020 tax return or use GetCTC.org if you dont have a filing requirement.

Ohio House Approves Second Round Of Federal Covid Relief Funds
Ohio lawmakers in the House voted to release another round of federal stimulus dollars in relation to COVID-19 pandemic relief.
More than $420 million is earmarked for local governments around Ohio with a population of under 50,000 people.
Rep. Thomas Hall said this is a second round of funds from ARPA. The first round was released in June 2021. Hall noted that the U.S. Department of Treasury released new guidance for how the funds can be used.
To allow for more things to be paid for out of these funds than in the first round that we got, said Hall.
The American Rescue Plan Act sent more than $5.4 billion to Ohio which was part of the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package proposed by President Joe Biden. An additional $6.6 billion was sent directly to larger Ohio cities.
Republicans in Ohio and around the country fought against the stimulus package. But the Ohio House bill to release the additional funds received bipartisan approval.
The Ohio Democratic Party pushed back on Republicans who argued against the American Rescue Plan Act, such as Gov. Mike DeWine.
Hall acknowledges he also disagreed with the move from Biden and Congress to enact the American Rescue Plan Act. But as Hall noted, since the money has already been approved on the federal level, Ohio might as well put it to use.
The Ohio Senate is expected to hold hearings on the bill and pass it out of the chamber in the next few weeks.
Who Is Eligible For The $350 Stimulus Checks In Ohio
According to Whaley, individuals making up to $80,000 a year or couples making $160,000 a year or under would be eligible to receive the rebate, worth $350 or $700, respectively.
Ohio is set to receive $2.68 billion in the next round of federal funding via the American Rescue Plan, with Whaley playing a key role in lobbying for state and local funding to be included in the American Rescue Plan.
The rebate would go to roughly 7.4 million residents in Ohio, the same individuals who also received economic impact payments, with the number accounting for 89 percent of adults in the state.

Th Stimulus Checks Given Out To Targeted Groups
Some states are digging into that wad of cash the government gave them and giving out the fourth stimulus checks to specific groups of people. The requirements look different for each state, but all seem to have a few things in commonlike falling into certain income levels or going through some kind of hardship.
The Grand Canyon State has a different take when it comes to stimulus checkstheyre giving them out to people who are going back to work. Arizonas Back to Work Program is offering $2,000 to those who got a job after being on unemployment.3 But you have to hold down your new job for at least eight weeks before getting the benefit.
The Golden State is the only one on the list to give out big ol broad-sweeping stimulus checks that look like the ones the federal government gave out. Heres how their numbers break down: Californians making $75,000 or less were sent a one-time check of $600 or $1,200 as part of the Golden State Stimulus I.4 And with the Golden State Stimulus II, they could be eligible for a second stimulus payment anywhere from $500 to $1,100.5 Thats on top of extra money the state paid out through the Young Child Tax Credit to those who have children age 6 or younger.6
These guys decided to shift their focus to giving their stimulus checks to the unemployed. They sent $375 to folks who had gotten at least one unemployment check payment between March 15, 2020, and October 24, 2020.7
Whaleys Proposal Of $350 Stimulus Payments
Whaley is come forward with a proposal that would pay residents direct stimulus payments.
Joint filers would see $700 payments.
These would go to middle class households to help with the rising costs of gas and groceries.
The payments may be used for bills as well.
The funds are set to go to the state soon. Governor DeWine and his administration have not shared how they plan to spend the money.
The income limit for Whaleys proposed stimulus checks would be $80,000 for single filers and $160,000 for joint filers.
The election wont happen until November, and wont be sworn in until Jan. 9, 2023.

How Will I Get My Payment If I Got A Refund Anticipation Check Or Refund Anticipation Loan When I Filed My Taxes
The IRS will attempt to deliver your payment to the account information provided on your tax return. Some RALs and RACs are issued through debit cards. If the card is still active, you will receive your payment on the card. If the account or card is no longer active, the deposit will be rejected, and the IRS will send a paper check to the address on the tax return.
