The benefits are available to New Jersey citizens who filed state income tax rebates for 2021 using an ITIN but were not qualified for federal stimulus funds. If all four people have ITINs, a married couple filing two dependents will get $2,000 when filing jointly.
Each ITIN holder who files a tax return will receive $500 under New Jerseys Taxation Division scheme. When the payments start being sent out in December, residents should contact the organization if they have not received their payouts by December 15.
What To Know About The Second Round Of $500 Checks For Low
Roughly 300,000 Massachusetts residents are about to get a $500 check in the mail.
Gov. Charlie Baker’s administration said last week that it would begin mailing the second, larger round of $500 automatic, direct payments to low-income workers on Monday. This comes as part of a $4 billion COVID relief bill passed last December.
A spokesperson for the state’s Executive Office for Administration & Finance said Monday that all eligible residents will likely receive their check over the next couple weeks.
The eligibility parameters are basically the same as the first round of payments, which were sent out to about 240,000 residents in March and were based on 2020 tax returns.
However, this round of checks is based on 2021 tax returns, and will only go to eligible individuals who did not get a check during the first round of payments. The income criteria has also been slightly tinkered to adjust for this year’s increases in the Massachusetts minimum wage and federal poverty level calculations.
Under the updated guidelines, residents are eligible for the second of payments if they made at least $13,500 but no more than 300% of the federal poverty level.
In other words, the income limit is $38,640 for individual filers, while a household of four could earn up to $79,500 and be eligible. State officials also said married filers could each be eligible for a check, as long as they independently qualify.

Checks Started Arriving On October 7
Funds began arriving on Friday, Vigliotti noted, with people receiving either a debit card in the mail or a direct deposit to their bank account.
But it could take a few days or weeks for the money to arrive. Still, about 90% of people who receive direct deposits will get their payments by the end of October, according to the California Franchise Tax Board.
On social media, some people said they had received their checks via direct deposit on Friday, while others said they were still waiting.
Other States Offering Cash
Thousands of Americans are eligible for other direct payment opportunities.
California recently issued nearly 62,000 stimulus checks to its residents.
They were part of the Golden State Stimulus I and Golden State Stimulus II programs launched in 2021.
To qualify for either program, California residents income must be less than $75,000 per year and generally have filed 2020 taxes before October 15, 2021.
The payments under the programs were worth up to $1,200 and $1,100, respectively.
There is also a universal basic income program being launched by six non-profit organizations.
One of the organizations, N.M. CAFé, confirmed to The Sun that a total of 330 families from New Mexico will be getting the $500 monthly cash assistance through next January, or for 11 months overall.

New Jersey: $500 Rebate Checks
In fall 2021, the New Jersey state legislature approved a budget measure to send one-time rebate checks of up to $500 to nearly a million families.
New Jersey also sent payments to those who file taxes using a taxpayer identification number instead of a Social Security number. The Excluded New Jerseyans Fund applied to nonresident and resident aliens, their spouses and dependents.
The fund has stopped accepting new applications.
Does Everyone Get $500
Residents who paid less than $500 in income tax will receive an amount equal to what they paid. For example, if an eligible family paid $250 in taxes, they would get a $250 rebate check. The most anyone can get back is $500.
The rebate will also be prorated for part-time residents based on the number of months they lived in New Jersey.

California: Up To $1050 Rebate
Payments for Californias Middle-Class Tax Refund started hitting bank accounts and mailboxes at the beginning of October, with the most recent batch sent out on October 24. An estimated 23 million Golden State residents are eligible for these payments. To find out if you qualify, you can check the State of Californias Franchise Tax Board website. The Franchise Tax Board expects 90% of payments to be issued in October.
A one-time payment of $350 will go to individual taxpayers who make $75,000 or less. Couples filing jointly will receive $700 if they make no more than $150,000 annually. Eligible households will also receive an additional $350 if they have qualifying dependents.
Taxpayers with incomes between $75,000 and $250,000 will receive a phased benefit with a maximum payment of $250. Those households can get up to an additional $250 if they have eligible dependents.
Eligible recipients who received Golden State Stimulus payments by direct deposit should have seen their Middle Class Tax Refund deposited between October 7 and October 25. All remaining direct deposits were slated to occur between October 28 and November 14.
If you received your California stimulus payments by debit card, youll also receive the Middle Class Tax Refund by debit card between October 24 and December 10. Remaining debit card payments will be sent by January 14, 2023.

Other Tax Benefits In The New Jersey 2022 Budget

The 2022 Appropriations Act expands the Child and Dependent Care Credit to families earning up to $150,000 while at the same time making it refundable. As well the Earned Income Tax Credit will increase from 35 percent to 40 percent. The eligibility age will also drop again this year from 21 to 18, and expand eligibility to those 65 and older.

You can use the Get My Payment tool on the IRS website, which can tell you the status of your dependent payments. Like the Non-Filer tool, the Get My Payment tool is free to use. Under the Cares Act, dependent payments were only available to dependents 17 and younger, which means that many high school students, college students and adult dependents were not eligible for dependent payments.
Who Will Get A Debit Card In The Mail
Taxpayers who included their addresses but no bank account data will receive a debit card. Others who will receive a debt card include:
- People who filed paper tax returns.
- Those who owed taxes from their 2020 returns.

South Carolinas Stimulus Check Explained
Many states are using their budget surplus to fund inflation relief payments to residents. California, Maine, and Colorado are also issuing stimulus checks to residents in 2022.
South Carolina passed a $14 billion budget that includes $1 billion for tax rebates to residents. In addition to direct payments to households, the budget provides an income tax rate cut, from 7 percent to 6.5 percent. The tax rate will keep dropping until it comes down to 6 percent in five years.
The budget raises teachers’ starting salary to $40,000 from $36,000, and includes a $1,500 bonus and 3 percent salary boost for certain public service workers. The budget also provides money for colleges that freeze tuition fees, and the state has cut manufacturing property tax to 6 percent from 9 percent, which should save manufacturers about $100 million.

The income tax rebates were approved by state lawmakers as part of this year’s $8.4 billion budget, according to the state Department of Revenue, and payments will continue to go out through December.
South Carolina isn’t the only state issuing residents tax refunds, though: Illinois is still sending out $50 and $100 rebates and Massachusetts began returning $3 billion in surplus tax revenue this month.

How Will You Get The Dependent Payment
You may be wondering if you will get a check in the mail or through direct deposit. It depends on how you received your first stimulus check. For example, if the first check was sent through direct deposit, then you will receive the dependent payment directly in your bank account. Similarly, if you received a paper check, your dependent payment also will be provided through a paper check.
Idaho: $75 Rebate Payments
In February, Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed a bill that allocated $350 million for tax rebates to Idahoans. There were two criteria for eligibility:
- Full-time Idaho residency and filed 2020 and 2021 tax year returns, OR
- Full-time Idaho residency and filed grocery-credit refund returns.
The payments began in March. Each taxpayer received either $75 or 12% of their 2020 Idaho state taxes, whichever was greater . The rebate was applicable to each taxpayer and dependent.
The tax commission first issued rebates to taxpayers who received tax refunds via direct deposit, then sent paper rebate checks. The majority of the rebates have been issued.
In a special session on September 1, Idaho lawmakers voted to authorize another tax rebate for all residents who filed state tax returns in 2020. Individual filers will receive $300, and couples filing jointly will get $600.
Those payments started processing in late September, and about 75,000 payments will be sent out each week throughout the end of the year and into early 2023.
State residents can check their rebate status on the Idaho State Tax Commission website.
